🚨BREAKING: The #cure for #insomnia has been found! Just dive into the riveting world of "Declarative Web Push" via WebKit's never-ending list of guides, policies, and status reports. 🤯 Spoiler alert: It's about as exciting as watching paint dry, but with more #buzzwords and no payoff. 💤

WebKit · Meet Declarative Web PushWeb Push notifications are a powerful and important part of the web platform.

Spent half the day trying to get tap/click events to work on SVG elements on #Webkit.

Managed to make it work on MacOS, failed on iOS.

Looked at other sites to figure out how they do it. Turns out they don't. They just don't.

Did I say "spent" half a day? I meant wasted.

At this point I am half thinking I'll have my sites just refuse to work on Webkit.

No, I won't file a bug, I've filed enough.

Tomorrow at 14:55 CET, our very own Lauro Moura will be in Valencia speaking at @seleniumconf to deliver his presentation “Advancing WebDriver BiDi support in WebKit”, where he will navigate through the historical motivations, current challenges and future steps of his ongoing work to support WebDriver BiDi in WebKit. Feel free to come and say hi!

#GNOME Web is truly independent from #Google. Though still dependent on #Apple, they don't have as much power as Google. It is still better than a Google monopoly. And #webkit is developed with proper APIs and meant to be embedded in other applications unlike Google's #blink.

One big feature missing is support for audio / video calls (webrtc). With #BoringSSL switching to Apache 2.0, a big blocker for webrtc support is resolved.

‘The UK's Mobile Browsers and Cloud Gaming Market Investigation Reference (MIR) has published its final report. The conclusion is clear: #Apple’s “#WebKit restriction”, which forces all browsers on #iOS to use Apple’s engine, harms competition, stifles innovation and functionality, particularly for #WebApps.’ #CMA #DMU #DMCCA

What's (also) really annoying about the is that I can't use a custom search engine (in my case, my self-hosted ) as my default particularly when searching from the home screen. It always just uses whatever the default is set in Safari. Even though I don't use Safari or any of its search engine options. I use , even though it kind of sucks on — plz Apple get rid of the requirement).

Thankfully I also have a Pixel 6 running , which I might just start using as my primary phone now that I've been weening myself off of various cloud services and pretty much everything I need at this point.
