Last night I joined the local run club for one of their weekly runs. 6 miles in total. Lot of fun people to chat with. The end was a bit of a struggle. Hunger started hitting pretty hard in the last 2 miles.

Today, hunger continues to be a struggle. But I'm down 3 more lbs in the last week so that's giving me the willpower to not overeat... for now.

I normally do my 2nd workout over lunch. Typically a treadmill or cycling trainer workout. But today I'm joining a running group and doing a post dinner run.

Days where I don't workout over lunch are when I feel the most productive on my to do list. They are really exciting cause it gives me an extra 1-2 hours of focused and usually uninterrupted time to work on something. But skipping my workout makes me feel like garbage so I typically only get to take advantage of open lunches once every week or so when I take a genuine rest day.

Good Morning peeps :)

Short run this morning, to get me back in sync, before my long run on Friday.

Short sleeves (no base layer) this morning as yesterday was warm, so chilly sea fog that had crept inland over night, I could have done without

I really put the rubber to the road, and set a new PB for 5km (chopping 66 secs off of my previous best)

Finished my run looking out across the harbour at St Pauls Bay, before walking home.

I started another Garmin Coach 10k plan because I am out of running shape, so it assigned a benchmark run for me today.

Garmin Coach plans are smart-ish plans that follow a pattern but adapt the assignments based on your performance. I have had plenty of success following them. Did 5k, 5k with a pace goal, then 10k last summer.

Therefore I am doing 10k again now but basically just to prevent injury (I tend to have more endurance than my knees)

The plan starts from a 9min benchmark run, then you can pick one of three different “coaches” to follow. I picked coach Jeff this time

So that’s it. Back into 10k training to see how soon I am back running safely and not getting hurt.

Happy running season!

Went for a quick Sunday run. Wasn’t feeling super strong and it’s very windy. Did 3k and that’s about it.

It’s funny because it’s not like my HR spiked or anything, I was just feeling… weak? A bit light headed, maybe? Maybe I didn’t eat enough for breakfast.

Anyway, Garmin thinks I did *super* well and congratulated me, thinks my VO2 max increased. I will absolutely never understand Garmin’s standards.
