Last week, Cornell's interim president sent an email to all faculty, students, and staff, intended to reassure the community in times of stress and anxiety. Unfortunately, it ended on a note — "Finally, Cornell follows the law" — that I find the opposite of reassuring. What I hear is this: when the feds come for Jews, leftists, gender-nonconforming people, immigrants, people of color, and other undesirables, Cornell will fully cooperate, because, you know, the law.

Please remember: by surrendering to fascists ahead of time, you play into their hands. Which side are YOU on?
