#Palestine / Gaza hospital director being held at notorious Israeli prison
The director of Kamal Adwan hospital in #Gaza has been taken hostage by the Israeli occupation forces, reportedly after a raid on his hospital. The hospital was shut down and many medical staff have gone missing, leaving patients without access to care.
The incident is the latest in a long line of attacks on healthcare workers in Gaza, with over 1,000 health workers killed since October 2023.
Human rights groups are speaking out against #IDF’s actions, saying that Abu Safiya may be being held without charge or trial and facing torture. #Amnesty International has also spoken out, saying that he may be being subjected to arbitrary detention and torture.
The World Health Organization has condemned the action, calling it "grossly illegal and revolting".

Dr. Tanya Haj Hassan, a pediatric intensive care doctor with Medical Aid for Palestinians, delivered a powerful presentation detailing the horrific conditions in #Gaza, where she witnessed the systematic targeting of civilians, healthcare workers, and infrastructure. She recounted stories of families wiped out, children dying without comfort, and healthcare workers enduring torture and loss while continuing to serve.
Dr. Haj Hassan emphasized the destruction of hospitals, the forced displacement of people, and the deprivation of basic necessities, all while the world remains largely silent. She urged the international community to offer meaningful solidarity and support, highlighting the courage of Palestinian healthcare workers as an example of resilience in the face of genocide.
