just seems kinda off that most people don't consider ideology to be a factor in defederation from kolektiva (or other instances)
like how long would you suppose an anarchist, anti-colonial instance would get along with liberal instances? authoritarian left ones? "apolitical" instances?
not discounting that folks have negative interactions with specific accounts, etc.
look at how many liberals react to calm, polite replies that accurately point to liberal policies and politicians helping to bring us to the current moment.. rage, insta-blocks, tirades against whole instances and ideologies based off a single encounter..
ironically, the negativity towards kolektiva seems to have resulted in the mods choosing detached appeasement over something closer to moderation.
unsurprisingly, the appeasement has not resulted in positive evaluations of kolektiva. because people who loudly and angrily demand you do as they say, immediately, are usually looking for deference/submission/etc.
I don't give kolektiva mods a pass on things that I consider fuck-ups, but how exactly would an anarchist, anti-colonial instance stay 'popular' on social media created on an authoritarian, colonialist planet?
they would have to stop being what they are, keep it a secret, etc. sometimes people aren't popular, and it's not always a result of inappropriate behavior.
sometimes folks' ideology is just rooted in unpopular truths. that's considered abrasive without any social errors.
there also seems to be an underlying, unspoken desire for centralization of moderation on fedi
like, don't we have separate instances because we have different ideologies, interests, ethics, etc.? how would we ever all moderate the same way?
again, not caping for kolektiva mods. if you've paid attention to this account at all in the past, that should go without saying.
