There's a beautiful tree across my street, on a hill covered in ivy. It's a whole, dense ecosystem with so many different birds and squirrels living in it. Probably raccoons and who knows what else.

Or that's what it was before.

The electric company told us that they'd be pruning or cutting down trees that are too close to their power lines. They are destroying this beautiful tree. It looks barren, and they're still cutting. I'm scared they will cut it down entirely. I'm scared that it won't survive the destruction. How many nests were up there? How many birds will leave our neighborhood?

Trees should not make room for people's needs. People should make room for trees.
