Still snowed under archiving stuff from twitter, but came across this thread about a GDL [edit: just been informed he might not be GDL, possibly some other group] ghoul who torched a Synagogue in Austin TX: https://twitter.com/nate_thayer/status/1458660370638327808
I went digging and found some more info. Buckle up, and CW for racism / antisemitism / etc. Usual nazi shit...
First up, during his arrest his scrapbook was discovered - including his planning of the arson attack - scouting out the venue day before, and also confirming the attack after the event...
In the court documents, it also metions that he had a prior for armed robbery of 4 Black victims and a Hispanic victim at Texas State University where he studies! This was a few months prior to his arson attack on the Synagogue.
Court documents also confirmed that he was, at some point, enrolled in the Texas State Guard. Seems to be a freaking honeypot for nazis, eh?
While searching his house and vehicle (which was owned by a relative living at the same address), cops also found piles of antisemitic fliers that he'd been handing out....
Given that he'd already committed armed robbery, one has to wonder why Texas cops didn't haul his ass in to jail? I think we all know the answer to that question.
Wow, they really went with the "Mentally ill lone wolf" defence for this nazi. https://www.thedailybeast.com/accused-austin-synagogue-arsonist-franklin-barrett-sechriest-robbed-students-before-attack-prosecutors-say
How the entire fk was he still allowed on campus after armed robbery? It's almost as if the armed robbery was just brushed under the rug.
* August 2021: Armed robbery _on campus_
* October 2021: Synagogue arson
* November 2021: Still turning up _same campus_
His father was earning something like $1million/yr (according to some reports) - maybe he paid someone to make "the problem [armed robbery] to go away"? This, btw, the same father - **a surgeon** - who ignored all the red flags about his son's numerous medical conditions and did exactly nothing to get recommended assistance. Oh, and also allowed the kid to stockpile weapons despite medical assessment in 2016 saying he shoudl never be allowed to own guns.
