Yes, but my parents are very good about this sort of thing (my dad will actually get excited and say "oh! I never thought about it that way before, thank you I learned something new today!"). It was my grandfather who was more deeply entrenched-- my father has described to me how his sister had many long arguments with grandpa about his problematic attitudes, racism etc, and lo and behold weeks or months later he'd adopt a better position on a topic... but without ever telling her she was right or crediting her with changing his mind.
