Any suggestions of horror movies with anti capitalist or at the very least anti consumerist messages?
@theceoofanarchism Classic Dawn of the Dead in the mall.
@theceoofanarchism The classic suggestion is They Live! but I assume most people have seen that.
Very interested in reading the replies to your question.
@theceoofanarchism A few movies like Parasite, Society, and American Psycho cast the wealthy as villains to explore the damage they do by existing. Nightbreed is explicitly anti-fascist and anti-colonialism, but doesn't have much to say about capitalism directly.
@theceoofanarchism also, The Platform uses a pretty blunt metaphor to explore class and wealth disparity, but I can't personally attest to its good reputation because I haven't seen it or its sequel
@theceoofanarchism The original Dawn Of The Dead springs to mind. Also The Stuff is about consumerism. Possibly Society although it's more aiming at the upper classes. Maybe American Psycho?
@theceoofanarchism BTW: an unconventional suggestion would be Fight Club
And I assume lots of people would say, "But that isn't an horror movie."
However, I think there's plenty there that is indeed horrific.
@theceoofanarchism Sorry to Bother You kind of fits this
@theceoofanarchism Dogtooth also kind of fits
