Trump supporter attempts to RAM Tesla protesters at W Palm Beach, FL showroom (EDIT W Palm Beach not Palm Beach)
On the 22nd of March, TeslaTakedown activists deployed to showrooms all over the US for another round of protests aimed at starving out Elon Musk. One of these protests was in West Palm Beach, FL.
During the protest, Trump supporter Andrew Dutl attempted to ram down protesters, jumping his black SUV onto the sidewalk as the protesters were not in the street. He missed all of them as everyone including elders sucessfully jumped or scrambled to safety. He then stopped his car and got out.
Someone called the cops. When Dutil heard the sirens he got back in his SUV and fled but it was too late. Police cruisers quickly chased him down and persuaded or forced him to stop. He was arrested and a booking photo identified him. A social media search on his name identified him as a member of a pro-Trump group and also a Veteran. Many progressive and middle of the road vets are furious about this, especially given that Musk and DOGE are after their VA benefits. Someone yelled "traitor!" as he got back in his SUV and attempted to flee before being chased down.
It is also being reported tjhat Andrew Dutil's current job (until he gets fired that is) is working at the same Tesla showroom!
Video starts just after the failed attempt at a DAESH/ISIS style car attack, with Dutil's SUV on the sidewalk
@LukefromDC another reason to reinstate the draft. For men and women.
@orrickle @LukefromDC more like a reason to bring guns to protests
@jonathankoren @orrickle @LukefromDC Not only is Florida a concealed carry w/o a permit State but they also have a #StandYourGround law:
“a person is justified in using or threatening to use deadly force if he or she reasonably believes that using or threatening to use such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony.”
Shooting a driver who attempts to ram you or other pedestrians with their car is perfectly legal according to FL state law, imo.
[Edited: changed Open Carry to Concealed Carry without a permit]
@JizzelEtBass @jonathankoren @orrickle Also note that shooting him AFTER the ramming is not.
Another problem is FL allows permitless concealed carry but NOT open carry. Protesters with slung rifles are quite the deterrent, but this is not Georgia. Concealed pistols don't deter much unless they are expected.
I was at Stone Mountain, Ga for the April 2022 counterprotest against the KKK, and there we had a security team equipped like a squad of combat infantry. Not just their rifles, but med kids, radios, body armor, and ballistic helmets. They fanned out to cover potential trouble spots, and neither the cops nor the Klan wanted to fight combat infantry, so for the rest of us the day turned into a literal walk in the park. Before the JBGC style security contingents the cops and Klan used to join forces to beat protesters at Stone Mountain.
@LukefromDC @jonathankoren @orrickle oops, just looked this ip, you are right. CCW doesn't need a permit anymore, but Open Carry is not allowed, although I don't see a specific carvw out for public protests or demonstrations. Open carry is only permitted when traveling to hunt or fish, although if you need a gun to fish, you'reprobablydoingit wrong.?

@JizzelEtBass @jonathankoren @orrickle Poeple do use a BOW to fish (using an arrow that works like a harpoon and is on a fishing line) but not a gun.
I used to use a slingshot set up that way to send a fishing line messenger line 80 feet up trees to haul up my antenna halyards for pirate radio
