ℂ𝕖𝕝𝕖𝕤𝕥𝕖 :verified_trans:<p>Blanket-bans SUCK.</p><p>Over and over, I hear voices who demand bans on <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/socialmedia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>socialmedia</span></a> access for people below a certain age or general bans of social media.</p><p>Please stop thinking you can just ban the problem away. Think for example about the people who use social media as a safe space... the LGBTQ+ <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/kids" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>kids</span></a> and teens in some conservative hinterland who use social media to be able to connect to other <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/queer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>queer</span></a> kids, which is impossible to do safely in public.<br>There is an undeniable, overproportional impact on marginalized communities.<br>That's just one example.</p><p>To solve the (anti-)social media issue, we need <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/education" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>education</span></a> and <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/moderation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>moderation</span></a>, not generalized <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/bans" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bans</span></a> for a certain group.</p>

How did we let it be? It is not the place where I wanna be. I come here to see what I wanna see, to talk to anyone I wanna talk, to post what I wanna post, to find knowledge and skills I was deprived. And what we have now?
