🐙 Compañero Allende 🇵🇸

Today we painted.

The painting was a collaboration between Brigada Luna and Chilean muralist Robinson Avello.

The mural is not painted in the regular Brigada Luna style, which mainly focuses on people who have lived in, and as, the consequence of the coup and dictatorship, but this time lends itself to more classical themes.

The mural is roughly 15-20 metres by three metres.

Huge mural in Malmö, Sweden. It depicts a timeline of the years before, during, and after the coup d'etat in Chile 1973. To the left are the workers, to their right is an eagle (as in the USA (who orchestrated the coup) and the militaries. The center piece consists of the burning Moneda palace, the text "50 år av minnen"—50 years of memories—with Allende's thick-rimmed glasses forming part of the number 50, and a b/w portrait of Salvador Allende. Further right is a mountain topped by a fist holding a placard with two missing people and the question ¿donde están?—where are they.Further right holding a sign in front of her face with the text "Alla folks kamp"—all peoples struggles—and further right a representation of the primera linea of the 2019 uprisings, and the "tower of people" holding a black chilean flag as a symbol of oppression. Under this mountain of people, the famous dog Negro Matapacos—the Black Copkiller. The right half of the mural has an eye sheading a tear of blood, further right a wounded person with a bandaged eye with a red shirt that reads "No hay paz sin justicia"—There is no peace without justice. The mural is finished off by a the profile Mapuche woman with a Cultrún behind her face, as a sun. Behind her Manuel Rodrigues (as in FPMR—Frente Patriotico Manuel Rodriguez). Everything is painted in contrasting colours with broad black outlines, except Allende who is based on a b/w photo. This painting was a collaboration with Robinson Avello.
