Updated plans to improve public #transport and active travel in #Heywood town centre, Greater #Manchester, have been revealed following feedback gathered in spring 2024. TfGM and #Rochdale Council have refined proposals to include upgraded pedestrian and cycle crossings, wider footpaths, improved bus stops, junction upgrades, and a better car park on Hill Street. Key changes include removing the proposed bus gate on Lance Corporal Stephen Shaw MC Way, scrapping the one-way system on Hartley Street, and adding signal upgrades to ease traffic flow. These improvements aim to reduce congestion, speed up bus journeys, and make walking, wheeling, and cycling safer as part of the wider Bee Network, focusing on the 471 bus route between Rochdale and Bury. Residents and businesses are encouraged to give their views on the updated proposals between 7 April and 18 May, with public drop-in sessions at Heywood Sports Village on 23 April (9am–12pm) and 6 May (5pm–8pm).
