K. Jemisin, a SFF short story collection: "How Long 'til Black Future Month".<br>The first story, "The Ones Who Stay and Fight" starts of with a seemingly utopia, but there is also a dystopia build in it.<br>There are 22 short stories in this book.</p><p>The author's website:<br><a href="https://nkjemisin.com/writing-type/short-story-collections/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">nkjemisin.com/writing-type/sho</span><span class="invisible">rt-story-collections/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/reading" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>reading</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/2025reads" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>2025reads</span></a></p>

This is the first book in a series. It's well written and quite suspenseful. The protagonist is a talented piano player but because of a trauma, she stops playing entirely and instead gets a job of a high profile cosmetics company ... and then things start to get weird and scary.<br>What I like about this novel?<br>1/2</p>
Amalia Zeichnerin<p>I read about this idea on Tumblr.<br>In typical book clubs, you agree on one specific book to read and then set a time during which to read it.<br>However, this doesn't work for everyone. Here is my idea: <br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/RandomBookClub" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RandomBookClub</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Read" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Read</span></a> any <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/book" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>book</span></a> you like, any time. <br>Fiction or nonfiction, all genres are welcome.
