Am frühen Samstagmorgen rettete die #aurora von @seawatchcrew 17 Menschen aus Seenot. Die italienischen Behörden wiesen dem Schiff Trapani als Hafen für die Ausschiffung zu. Die Überfahrt dauert 10 Stunden, obwohl der nächstgelegene Hafen von #lampedusa nur 3 Stunden vom Rettungsort entfernt gewesen wäre. So mussten die geretteten Menschen weitere 10 Stunden auf See verbringen.

🛟 Gestern kamen auf #Lampedusa 100 Menschen an, die von Guardia di Finanza & Guardia Costiera von 2 Booten gerettet worden waren, die von Zawiya und Zouara in #Libyen abgefahren waren.

Am Mittwoch waren 216 Menschen aus 7 Booten auf der Insel angekommen.

The Louise Michel is back at sea
Our crew assisted a boat with 30 people on board

Yesterday evening the Louise Michel departed from Sicily towards the Central Mediterranean. During the night our crew was alerted by the civil emergency hotline @alarm_phone about an overcrowded boat south of Lampedusa.

On the way there our crew found a wooden boat with 20-30 people on it and stayed until za took over and brought everyone safely to .

Meanwhile tragically another boat in distress, spotted and alerted by , has most likely been intercepted.

Frontex has been proven to be involved in illegal interceptions and pushing people back to .

The Louise Michel continues sailing in this area and is ready to assist.

In 2019, Italian Deputy Prime Minister prevented the NGO rescue ship @openarms_fund from docking in following taking people onboard from a boat in distress. He has now been charged with kidnapping and dereliction of duty and faces six years in prison.

While the media fixates on an accident of a superyacht, people continue to risk their lives in search of safety on a daily basis, due to the deadly and racist policies of the . These policies must end. Every life matters!
