Aya“You might be a hypochondriac!” 😑<br> “That isn’t pain, it’s just sensation!” 🙃<br> “We won’t treat your pain, or we might not know what’s causing it!” 🤡<br> <br> Medical professionals, I’m begging you, make it make sense.<br> <br> Luna, like so many of us, has dealt with every variation of medical gaslighting. Doctors dismissing pain, questioning reality, and prescribing a whole lot of nothing—while ordering tests that don’t even make sense. If you’ve ever had a doctor make you question your own body, you are not alone.<br> <br> 💬 Drop the worst medical advice you’ve ever received in the comments.<br> (Or just scream in solidarity, that’s valid too.) 🫠🫂<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/MedicalGaslighting?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#MedicalGaslighting</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/ChronicIllness?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#ChronicIllness</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/DisabilityAwareness?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#DisabilityAwareness</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/PainIsReal?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#PainIsReal</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/ButYouDontLookSick?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#ButYouDontLookSick</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/HealthcareStruggles?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#HealthcareStruggles</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/MedicalTrauma?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#MedicalTrauma</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/HealthCareSystem?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#HealthCareSystem</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/TrustPatients?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#TrustPatients</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/ADayInTheLuna?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#ADayInTheLuna</a>
CookieCat<p>Another friend posted on Facebook the other day that they haven&#39;t been able to sleep past 4/5 am ever since they contracted <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/Covid" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Covid</span></a> for the first time a little over a month ago. </p><p>The thread was similar to the one I saw today with multiple people talking about their struggles to sleep after contracting <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/Covid19" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Covid19</span></a>. </p><p>This person knew about <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/LongCovid" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>LongCovid</span></a> , but many people in the comments didn&#39;t. They were just living with <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/PostCovid" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>PostCovid</span></a> conditions and like - kind of knowing it was related (because it came after their infection), but not knowing it had a name or that these symptoms could be signs that they have other things going on that should be addressed. </p><p>This person is also back east but in a completely different state than my other friend. How many people are living with <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/LongCovid" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>LongCovid</span></a> and don&#39;t even know what that is? It&#39;s got to be in the hundreds of thousands. That&#39;s not even counting the people who DO know and are being dismissed by their medical teams or can not access medical treatment. </p><p>We are truly living in a <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/FailedState" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>FailedState</span></a> in the U.S. with a <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/HealthCareSystem" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>HealthCareSystem</span></a> (if you could even call it that pre <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/Pandemic" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Pandemic</span></a> ) in collapse.</p>
CookieCat<p>🧵<br />My job offers what many would consider &quot;outstanding&quot; benefits - and compared to a lot of jobs out there, it does. Example: We are closed between Xmas eve and new years day with pay. Thats cool. </p><p>Another example: my job offers 5 days of bereavement leave. Problem is, it only covers family. Granted, it covers lots of extended family, in laws, aunts, uncles, even &quot;parent like figures&quot;.</p><p>One of my closest friends died a week ago after having cancer for 2 years. She had been unable to get her age appropriate check ups when our <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/HealthcareSystem" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>HealthcareSystem</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/Collapsed" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Collapsed</span></a> during <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/COVID" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>COVID</span></a> and 1.5 years later she had <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/Cancer" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Cancer</span></a>. It was diagnosed in 2021 - stage 4. She lived okay on chemo for almost 2 years after her diagnosis, but when she went downhill, it happened fast. I was out of town. I couldn&#39;t be there. </p><p>I was her 2nd power of attorney and also one of the people closest to the situation. I inherited a huge amount of things from her (I agreed to take this on before she passed) and have to pack and move that stuff, plus I know I need to help plan her celebration of life. </p><p>All during the holidays, when I was on a break from work after a lot of stress.</p>
