witchescauldron<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://cosocial.ca/@evan" class="u-url mention">@<span>evan</span></a></span> </p><p>"they are friendly enemies" this is a view of the polarization our freshly <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/mainstreaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mainstreaming</span></a> people push over "native" alt spaces, it makes a mess, let me illustrate: </p><p>An example of this are the <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/fedifourm" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>fedifourm</span></a> guys, they are "well meaning" but talk to them and you get dogmatic liberal imperialism, pushing polarizing mess making.</p><p>Look at current shifts in <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/socialhub" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>socialhub</span></a> It's now run by one person, the diversity is sidelined and silenced by the "common sense" of <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/mainstreaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mainstreaming</span></a> it's a shadow of the community it was and needs to be.</p><p>Experience the <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/FEP" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>FEP</span></a> the lack of social buy in for this is feeding the <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/geekproblem" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>geekproblem</span></a></p><p>Our tech it self with its <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/fudalisam" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>fudalisam</span></a> of admin, user etc, king and serf hardcoded allows the polarizing to embed. </p><p>All these initiatives are good and grassroots, but all are poisoned by the <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/mainstreaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mainstreaming</span></a> polarization of the dogmatic paths of the few people left in charge.</p><p>One way out of this mess is sortation based, consensus building, trust networking, democracy.</p><p>This is a completely normal recurring issue with grassroot activism, before we were <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/mainstreaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mainstreaming</span></a> we were doing better, the question we can't ask is how do we do better while <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/mainstreaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mainstreaming</span></a>.</p><p>The <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/OGB" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>OGB</span></a> - as we can't keep doing the same shit, it's well past time to compost this mess.</p>
