That's a culture of taking care of one another. Men cook and care for children there. I don't know that the same outcome would show with a group of "typical" American kids. I don't think it's "natural" for a group of kids to devolve into chaos and mayhem, but dominant culture and childhood experiences are definitely going to matter or make a difference. Difference in basic cultural values matters. It's why I've stayed in Polynesia, over returning to the continental u.s., the people aren't terrible or selfish. They know how to cooperate and be kind to one another. SaltPhoenixIf everybody that wanted to start "an ecovillage/retreat center" would just grow food, hold abusers accountable for their actions, and be kind to their neighbors, including kids, animals and old people, they wouldn't have to keep thinking their "novel" idea will never come to pass. 🙄 Idk what they think is going to magically happen when they finally "have" this "retreat center". Now. Now is your now. Also: learn how to cooperate. Learn that you are *ONE* person and so is everybody else. What do YOU bring to the community table? How is YOUR ecovillage/retreat center not already where you hang your hat?
