Giacomo Tesio<span class="h-card"><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/users/lianna" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@lianna@mastodon.gamedev.place</a></span><br><br>This is a strawman.<br><br>People are (rightly) upset at billionaries stealing both from the commons and from everybody else.<br><br>The problem is that right now <a href="https://snac.tesio.it?t=copyright" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#copyright</a> (that backs <a href="https://snac.tesio.it?t=copyleft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#copyleft</a>) and <a href="https://snac.tesio.it?t=dataprotection" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#dataprotection</a> (<a href="https://snac.tesio.it?t=gdpr" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#GDPR</a> and so on...) are the only (weak) shield people have to fight back.<br><br>They are in fact too weak.<br><br>We need a total ridefinition of <a href="https://snac.tesio.it?t=publicdomain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#PublicDomain</a>, turing the default to a strongly protected <a href="https://snac.tesio.it?t=common" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#common</a> that can be used freely but only to produce more content (<a href="https://snac.tesio.it?t=software" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#software</a>, <a href="https://snac.tesio.it?t=art" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#art</a>...) under the same public domain regime.<br><br>We need to turn unprotected <a href="https://snac.tesio.it?t=commons" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#commons</a> to an exception.<br><br>And we need stronger data protection and privacy laws, that grant people the right to be paid for any abuse of their data an exponentially growing amount (say 1€ for the first bit, 2€ for the second, 4€ for the third and so on).<br><br>Finally, we need to get rid of billionaries. Hopefully, without too much violence.<br>
