But what I *totally did not see* was pretty damn slick.
Self-checkout line, all 3 terminals busy. At exactly the same time, person #1 and #3 tapped their cards and the machines did the loud "Thank you for using self-checkout" announcement to tell the nearby cashier they paid. Person #3 took their food & tampons & left.
I walked up to the machine - and it was waiting for a card tap! Buddy had palmed his card & tapped in sync with person #1 so the did-pay announcement seemed to cover him.
