@bikeshed yeah, like i do get that sometimes you do actually have to use the masters tools to bring down the masters house, but the adoption of 2a rhetoric is really disturbing to me
@julieofthespirits @bikeshed what are you referring to? I've seen a lot of #SRA and John Brown stuff that all uses its own rhetoric that explicitly rejects the limited, right wing view of the #2a
@thecommunistpig @bikeshed to give one example: a friend of mine once told me that, literally after coming home from the school he teaches at, where there had been an attempted shooting, and comforting his traumatized students, he went onto facebook and anarchists were ranting about how liberals would use it as an excuse to take away their guns
@julieofthespirits @bikeshed #GunControl has historically been used to give more power to #police for them to harass already marginalised communities, many #liberals seem to think that the #cops are gonna disarm their buddies if they pass gun control. Those anarchists, in your anecdote, might have been thinking along those lines without articulating it well.
I agree that gun manufacturers shouldn't be immune from criticism or targeting but I do believe in the philosophy of "the last capitalist we hang will be the one who sold us the rope".
@thecommunistpig @bikeshed thinking that liberals are going to take away your guns is an explicitly right wing framing, though
liberals don't do anything. they say they're going to do something in the next electoral cycle so they can campaign on it an infinitum
it's what they do with abortion and it's what they do with guns and it's what they do with everything
they are very much Not a Threat
and dismissing the trauma of a mass shooting just makes you an asshole at best
