I'm working on organizing for transitions away from cars — thinking communal + regional scale, to help folks on-board to better options. Here's a work-in-progress flyer, which is the first thing that came to mind. I'd love to connect with others who are interested in organizing around this. Here's how you can get a free bicycle, and get around without a car in your life — and save over $1,000 bucks a month. Go to any bike website or local bike shop. Find a bike you like. You can check-out with options like Klarna and PayPal, which give you interest-free monthly payments on your bike. With a low-interest payments on your bike, you can literally pay for it with your savings on gasoline — and even more so if you drop your insurance and car payments overall. This could save you $10,000 per year for the rest of your life — which is what the average driver spends on car costs (gas, insurance, maintenance, payments, parking) every year! And bikes aren’t your only option! Here’s a map, with all of your public transit lines, bike-share stations, and local places to shop and get food and enjoy near you! Once you’ve got this information down, take a picture and send it to some friends or neighbors, make some copies and pass them around, or just hand this paper to somebody else.
