I really hate the 'if we protest we'll get shot or run over or arrested' because its a nullifying point using an omnipresent potential not even related to protesting, as some kind of individual catastrophic fate.
As much as we might chide the headstrong bravado of 'getting got is something that happens to other people', you kinda have to believe that on end if you wanna make it out the door on end until proven wrong.
And when proven wrong, this is where things are actually bad, there's not a helluva lot of support and care and regrouping to figure out if there's any way to mitigate that shit or if it was just a bad beat on the wrong day.
The amount of folks that got washed out in 2020 still fucks with me because the entire shoe of 'we take care of us' was missing! We did not take care of us after repeated traumas, bumps bruises and broken bones, constant social friction around bad actors and bad faith actors who couldn't be rooted out. Of the 20 mil or so that turned out full of fire spitting fire, I wonder how many would make an encore in the next 5-10 years, because there wasn't and isn't a core backbench of support to mend every kind of wound.
Any supposed Vanguard Party would provide a sack lunch, a sling or slingshot, and address every type of casualty with care.
That's how I see it at least, and I'm not just making this up as a program to pursue for some greater liberation good out of the ether, I'm telling you exactly what would keep me and others going longer than we thought we could.
War is logistics. This - exactly what you said - is why I do medic stuff.
