Thanks to everyone's kind words. We do appreciate it.
A reminder: we are not dying, fading into the dark night, or doing a full-stop on media work.
We will continue to run this account and work on a variety of media projects, however at the current moment, we aren't able to do IGD as a web based platform and podcast at the same rate as we have in the past, and we feel like we owe it to folks to give you all a heads up about that.
The media landscape for autonomous anti-capitalist and anti-colonial projects has really shifted in the last few years, with people doing less 'report-back' style journalism and more just posting onto social media.
This reality requires people willing to slog through the swamp so to speak to bring the rest of us a report on what's going on and also reaching out to organizers on the front-lines for interviews, etc. We feel like IGD helped do this well, but it is very time consuming. We also feel the shift from reporting and having space for movement dialog and talking about social struggles and critiquing our lived realities has been replaced with more 'reaction' style content generation - which is a mixed bag.
There's also been a drop off in people from autonomous movements attempting to have a wider conversation with the rest of society - but if recent events are any indication, people are angry and fed up. If we don't speak to them, someone else will.
As people that both make and consume a lot of media, let's think about how to fill these voids.
