oh so you're a fan of Ruth Bader Ginsburg?

I bet you can't even name 3 times she used the "discovery doctrine" to justify building pipelines on indigenous land

"but singular they makes the language hard to understand!!" he or she said before grabbing his or her coffee and leaving with an angry expression on his or her face

Are identifying as white and working against the construct/the consequences of whiteness mutually exclusive? Obviously, distancing yourself from the “white” race label does nothing to lower your position in the hierarchy under racial capitalism, so what is the goal? I have always seen my claiming of a white racial identity as an acknowledgement of the undeserved and disproportionate social benefits I receive because of my skin, but now I am told to rethink that. Thoughts welcome!

Asking LGBTQ+ people only:

What's your view of the word "queer" in the context of describing LGBTQ+ people?

Boosts appreciated for sample size :)

many — i'd say most — religions are not about 'faith' in the sense of assenting to a series of propositions & generating an inner conviction that they are true — that's another emblematically lutheran and calvinist conception — but about practice: observing the right rituals, moral precepts, and so on. no text, even where it does make claims of this kind & you can understand those claims, will tell you anything about how they're actually put to practice or how practitioners regard them

The idea of "alpha" and "beta" males is an outdated myth based on misinformation. There is not a single reported case of a wolf using the Greek alphabet throughout the entirety of recorded history. It does not reflect how wolves act in the wild.

Trans university students and staff - what would your ideal trans-friendly university be like? Wishlists and examples of good stuff already happening both welcome. (Boosts welcome too)

this may be a pipe dream but I’m looking for a book, that is a list of people who are notable enough to have Wikipedia articles but not notable enough that someone has already made Wikipedia articles about them, and I want them to be interesting people and ideally leftists of some sort, and ideally most or all of them would not be men

anyone got any suggestions?

I really dislike Joe Biden, but I've never forgotten when some dipshit asked him how many genders there are and he gave the perfect answer. He said "at least three" and when asked to name them, he said "don't play games with me, kid."

if the system youve put in place to normalize asking for/giving pronouns doesn't leave a quiet, subtle option for people to abstain, you have made the space u r curating absolutely miserable for questioning and closeted trans ppl

Feel like this should be bigger news that the NFL has basically been using phrenology for 30 years to deny black players settlement money for brain damage.
