if you organise well, you can wildcat strike if you're not a member of a recognised union and, if you win, use the victory as a point to form a workplace union.
that is, presuming you are not contracted under any other sort of no-strike clause.
remember, unions are built by workers, for workers. they're not a secret club for senior workers and tradespeople only. if you can't find one that fits your needs, then build one that does.
it's not easy, but it's not as hard as it's made out to be.
