The Anarchist Bookfair in London Collective

Show thread

So much love to all the musicians who let us use their music at the last minute (set list further down this thread).

And to everyone else we may have forgotten here, thank you.

Finally, we'd like to thank for hosting the return of the Anarchist Bookfair in London. It is the spiritual home of the bookfair and it meant a lot to us and the attendees that it was here.

Show thread

Away from the bookfair itself, and are the two artists behind our poster (which you can grab a copy of from @Freedom_Press ).

Thanks also to and @kolektiva who helped us with the larger space for Room 2 (via IT-Kollektiv) for some of the live streaming. They will also be hosting the recordings (

Show thread

Many thanks also to the comrade who set up the food prep and made all the sandwiches (complete with allergen-friendly gluten-free option), and to the person who monitored the ventilation & CO2 levels throughout the day.

You were all fantastic and we can't tell you how much we appreciate you taking the time out to help make the event what it was.

Show thread

We'll start uploading the sessions after some mild editing and tidying up, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

A massive thank you to the dozens of volunteers who came out, helped us set up, provided first aid support and childminding, etc. Special thanks to Dywizjon 161, for runnning the childcare space, and to the local squatting community.

Show thread

Hi everyone, we just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who came along to both events and the stallholders and presenters who gave up their time to bring us such excellent food for the brain.

An especially big thanks to our sister festival who were amazing and a true source of support and inspiration.

We'll be back in a week or so with a full after-action report and our thoughts on where we can improve and how we'd like you to be part of that.

For further information on our COVID-19 policy please check

You can also direct any questions here.

See you at the bookfair!

Speaking of which, we'll have a strict mask policy inside the building and in tents. Though we won't be hassling people who are unable to wear masks for medical and sensory reasons, we won't be catering to anti-maskers.

If you are able to, get vaccinated, wear a mask, only travel in good health and please remember to make decisions that protect the vulnerable in your community.

Show thread

Alongside things like keeping a body count, monitoring CO2 levels and not running a gig afterwards, stallholders are limited to two per table. We'll also be ventilating the building. Finally, please mind the personal space of others. Hand sanitiser and masks will be available.

COVID-19 and the bookfair

The indoor venue's capacity is capped at 200. Once this is reached we'll be counting heads in/out.

There'll be additional space in the gardens next to the venue, but again this is limited capacity.

Stalls have been limited to stallholders from London and surrounding areas and we ask that people do not travel cross-country for this event. There are regional bookfairs coming up in Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle, presumably Edinburgh.

The event on the 11th will be followed by a day of digital workshops on the 12th which we'll be streaming live and which do not require any booking to view.

Finally, don't forget that the Antiuniversity Now Festival (with over 90 events on the bill) starts on the 3rd.

Show thread

It's worth noting as well that Bradford, Bristol, Manchester and Newscastle bookfairs are all coming up. There is also going to be a small one this weekend in Cardiff at the ACT Cardiff squat.

Anarchist Bookfair in London will play host to an all-day broadcast from Dissident Island Radio, so if you can't make it, consider tuning in to that!

Show thread

Copies will shortly be cropping up all over London, but if you'd like one for yourself, some print files (with and without bleed) can be downloaded here:

Secondly, we want to talk about expectations. Smaller and maskier! We're going to have two briefs on this shortly: one being a guide to our COVID-19 precautions and changes, the other is a more general "what to expect".

Show thread

With 16 days left until the Anarchist Bookfair in London, we'd like to share our poster for the first time and address a few things.

Firstly, the poster is a collaboration. Dr. Zadok penned the background, Morgasmik illustrated the foreground and the Bookfair crew edited it together. We'd like to thank both artists for their contributions and tolerance of our edits and changes.

Check them out:

Our fundraiser has reached 100%! 🎉

A massive thank you to everyone who has donated and helped us reach this goal.

The fundraiser is still accepting donations and there are 8 days left to go, so if you still wish to donate please feel welcome to do so.

💥💥 We've reached 78% of our fundraising goal. 💥💥

Thank you to everyone who's donated or shared so far! But we still have a little way to go. Help us get to 100%!

If you can afford it, please consider a donation to our fundraiser.

We need a bit of money to put on this event and any help - either in the form of money, or helping us to spread this around - will be greatly appreciated.

*Please see the COVID-19 policy on our website for more detail.
