Pinned toot

So the show will be call Three Rocks. This is, in my head, episode 2, cause the first is sitting in shame on my HD. Still working on hardware. But here I talk about getting it started, with some rare and unreleased things.

A programmer implements a bar. The tester goes in and orders a beer, orders zero beers, orders 999999999 beers, orders -1 beers, orders a lizard, and declares the bar ready for release.

The first customer comes in and asks to use the restroom.

The bar catches fire and burns down.

I'm proofreading my own science fiction stories. Finding quite a few involving the meta-theme of institutional collapse. And a poem.

"i use linux as my operating system," i state proudly to the unkempt, bearded man. he swivels around in his desk chair with a devilish gleam in his eyes, ready to mansplain with extreme precision.
"actually," he says with a grin, "linux is just the kernel. you use GNU+linux."
i don't miss a beat and reply with a smirk, "i use alpine, a distro that doesn't include the GNU coreutils, or any other GNU code. it's linux, but it's not GNU+linux."

the smile quickly drops from the man's face. his body begins convulsing and he foams at the mouth as he drop to the floor with a sickly thud. as he writhes around he screams "I-IT WAS COMPILED WITH GCC! THAT MEANS IT'S STILL GNU!"
coolly, i reply "if windows was compiled with gcc, would that make it GNU?" i interrupt his response with "and work is being made on the kernel to make it more compiler-agnostic. even if you were correct, you won't be for long."

with a sickly wheeze, the last of the man's life is ejected from his body. he lies on the floor, cold and limp. i've womansplained him to death.

It boggles my mind that there’s a huge part of the “left” that thinks the only way to a better world is following the footsteps of a bunch of dictators from 100 years ago instead of like... actually developing theory and praxis in line with the modern world and sociology

Maybe this just makes me an old person but I never got the point of mobile gaming beyond something quick to do at train stops.

If I wanted to play a full fat video game, I'd just stay indoors. If I'm outside, I want to focus on actually being outside and not miss it because I wanted to grind for coins. I can grind for coins in my own room in my own time.

Seriously though: the fourth instance of the Chaotic Frontlines festival is set for Nov 5th 2021. South Afrika's only Anarchism and Magick festival. Look at the first fest here.

If you will be in Durban, South Africa in November 2021, we will running our infamous anarchism festival. Music, right knowledge, justice and respect are on the menu. Details as time progresses.

So I nearly lost out on a 4 month long save of GBA rpg gaming. I nearly died.

Any rpgs beides Mass Effect 3 where one can have or see overtly homosexual relationships?

There are two types of people in this world.

Avoid them both.

I got sent this about a week ago and I have been thinking about it ever since

The selection of Gundam mobile suits is extensive. I chose Gundam SEED for this playthrough. Might go OG Gundam next time.

I started my Super Robot Taisen save in November last year. I'm now at Mission 48 out of 50. And iam so happy with this GBA title. And they have a well written gay character. They win.

❝Since her death in 1979, the woman who discovered what the universe is made of has not so much as received a memorial plaque. Her newspaper obituaries do not mention her greatest discovery. […] Every high school student knows that Isaac Newton discovered gravity, that Charles Darwin discovered evolution, and that Albert Einstein discovered the relativity of time. But when it comes to the composition of our universe, the textbooks simply say that the most abundant atom in the universe is hydrogen. And no one ever wonders how we know.❞ — Jeremy Knowles, discussing the complete lack of recognition Cecilia Payne gets, even today, for her revolutionary discovery. (via alliterate)

• Cecilia Payne won a scholarship to Cambridge.

• Cecilia Payne completed her studies, but Cambridge wouldn’t give her a degree because she was a woman, so she said to heck with that and moved to the United States to work at Harvard.

• Cecilia Payne was the first person ever to earn a Ph.D. in astronomy from Radcliffe College, with what Otto Strauve called “the most brilliant Ph.D. thesis ever written in astronomy.”

• Not only did Cecilia Payne discover what the universe is made of, she also discovered what the sun is made of (Henry Norris Russell, a fellow astronomer, is usually given credit for discovering that the sun’s composition is different from the Earth’s, but he came to his conclusions four years later than Payne — after telling her not to publish).

• Cecilia Payne is the reason we know basically anything about variable stars (stars whose brightness as seen from earth fluctuates). Literally every other study on variable stars is based on her work.

• Cecilia Payne was the first woman to be promoted to full professor from within Harvard and the first woman to head a science department at Harvard. She also inspired entire generations of women to take up science.

• Cecilia Payne is awesome and everyone should know her.

I Fucking Have An Appreciative But Nuanced And Critical Relationship With the Social Construct of “Science”

While I'm on a roll confessing my ingorance and sheer lack of give a damnness, I need to tell you all that I didn't know what "sjw" stood for. Til like, 3 weeks ago.

@FemboHooters , your sex meta posts have been a reason for joy and laughter these past few days. I don't feel like a deviant for cumming anymore
