FAIR confirmed that the Belleville principal who killed himself was an activist for the organisation. The so-called Foundation Against Racism and Intolerance is an American far-right advocacy group whose goals include abolishing affirmative action, undermining COVID-related health care (and racial equality in health care), and anti-discrimination policies in schools that prevent the bullying of minority students. Waterloo chapter head David Millard Haskell is a prominent far-right activist who in his capacity as a volunteer for FAIR created a presentation portraying anti-racism in education as "racism against white people." That presentation was meant to educate activists for FAIR on the organisation's line.

Several FAIR "advisors" (not the deceased) have appeared on Break the Rules, a far-right podcast that was co-hosted by Canadian alt-right artist and thought leader Giovanni Pennacchietti. One advisor, Jon Kay, has been involved in several efforts to portray events for Black people as "segregation" as part of his activism for the organisation, including inciting harassment towards Selam Debs.

Rage Against The Mafia State

idk, seems pretty important that the principal who killed himself was an activist for a far-right group known for harassing Black people for hosting community events and trying to make it easier to bully gay kids. Pretty curious that this isn't getting mentioned at all in stories about his death.

It just hit me that I've talked to Richard before during my research into FAIR. He was their main guy for handling inquiries for the Toronto chapter.

It strikes me as extremely ghoulish that the right-wing is now trying to exploit this guy's death after he clearly realised he threw his life away on activism for an organisation that crumpled a couple months later and was forced to restructure. Now they're trying to tar the Kojo Institute, because there's never enough lives destroyed for their culture war.

@RageAgainstTheMafiaState

It's amazing the sheer quantity of shitty people who have come out of the woodwork to eulogize
— including Sarah Braasch, whom you might remember from "calling the Yale Police because a Black student was sleeping in a common room".

I get the distinct feeling that Richard gets to be held up Weekend At Bernie's-style by all the assholes who threaten to "unalive" themselves when criticized (HateAgain is another example who is also parading his rancid corpse around), so they can say: "See! It could be me if you don't stahhhhp saying mean but true things about me, and this will be on you!"

Sarah could have long been forgotten if not for still shrieking about the consequences of her own shitty actions.

@RageAgainstTheMafiaState This is the first I've heard of that and the principal. That would be a good tidbit of info to report on, wouldn't it?

@CaptainCanuck my man I've been trying to get people to report on FAIR for years now. CAHN wouldn't touch it, best coverage we've had of the org was Dan Collen mention it wrt the LSO Bencher election because of its support for bullying trans kids. Even then, he left out a shitload on the organisation.

@CaptainCanuck it was too obscure at the time and no one wanted to pay attention when i was warning FAIR intended to get involved in Canadian politics. The New Yorker finally did a piece on it, revealing that Clarence Thomas' pal Harlan Crowe was financing the fucking thing
