Elon Musk Goes After Bunkers Full of Seeds
"This should unnerve every American who eats. Our food system is only as safe as our ability to respond to the next plant disease or other emergent threat"

@MHowell Thank you for that. I couldn't read it earlier because the NY Times doesn't like my email and wouldn't let me read the "gift article."
@MHowell
It seems like stochastic terrorism at best. And honestly it checks all the boxes for reckless disregard of human life, at a crimes against humanity level. This plus Trump's wasting two billion gallons of water in California seem calculated to cause -- maybe not famine -- higher food prices or food shortages.
‘The thing is, the N.P.G.S. collection of plant genetic diversity is not just a snapshot of what is currently grown to meet today’s demands. It is more like a survivalist cache: our nation’s safeguard against all future challenges to growing the food we need.’
@MHowell Those people desperately want humanity to die, don't they. I just can't fathom why.
@MHowell doesn't bode well for any Mars colony if Musk doesn't understand the importance of biodiversity, does it? It's the diversity part isn't it? Doesn't fit into the list of allowed words.
