Hey, folks who use screenreaders. I often use asterisks and parentheses in my writing, because the structure forms as I write. I've just realized that may make my stuff less accessible for you.
Is there a different way for me to add short snippets of clarifying text that's more accessible?
Thanks!
@Fishercat I don't have an issue with the way you write things based on what I've seen so far.
@enne Thanks. That's reassuring. If it changes, I'd appreciate your letting me know.
@Fishercat I would!
@Fishercat oh damn, I should have thought of this. Following for same question. I almost always write in Markdown and use a lot of italics and occasional bold to help people parse dense text, and this is achieved with asterisks, so it forms that way when I write even in other spaces like Mastodon. I'd love to know the answer.
@revoluciana I just boosted it. So maybe someone else will answer.
@revoluciana I would think that easily accessible italics and bold would solve a lot of these problems?
@CAWguy true. And some flavors of Mastodon will render markdown, but it's really dependent on which one your server is running. It's a good point-- I'll look into how difficult that would be for us to set up on ours. It would at least solve the problem where I personally run into it.
