Hurricane Helene is projected to make landfall in Florida as a Category 3 hurricane late Thursday afternoon.
Wakulla, Taylor, and Franklin Counties decided to evacuate the whole counties, citing forecasts for historic storm surge and widespread major hurricane wind damage.
However, many prisoners are being left behind bars. In fact, in Wakulla no facilities are evacuating, leaving an estimated 7.8% of the population locked up.

Taylor County is in a Mandatory Evacuation Zone and has NO evacuation plan for the jail!

Franklin County is in a Mandatory Evacuation Zone. Franklin CI reportedly evacuated but we haven't had capacity to contact these facilities, please call and update us on what they say!
