the idea of manufactured consent almost feels like a cliché at this point, but...

if you're gonna do a 5,000 word essay for the NYT, why isn't the focus on the psychological breakdown of a guy with a thriving car dealership on Long Island who is so fucking angry about trans people and immigrants when he has no stake in any of it?

i don't want a sympathetic "guy i talked to in a diner" profile. that shit is pathological

now consider: what might be the point of fascists telling you that by failing to be civil with them you're alienating moderate people, or that calling them fascists even tho they're clearly race-sceptic classical liberals dilutes your point, or making up canards like queer people are grooming children (to become queer)?

Various - Haida: Indian Music Of The Pacific Northwest (1986)
Genre: Aboriginal
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Probably one of the most important recordings I've ever heard. The Haida are an indigenous people that live on the archipelago of Haida Gwaii, in the nation-state of Canada. What's happened to these people can only be described as genocide. Yet here their music survives. Which is why it upsets me that the stream was a low quality vinyl rip. Folkways is failing to preserve these important recordings.

Y'all are really taking this moment to gatekeep the extension of solidarity?

Most of the medical crisis which abortion can resolve do not give a shit about whatever axis of identity a person falls on: without access to reproductive services, they will kill them regardless.

program idea: instead of scrubbing metadata, replace it with completely random and weird metadata

like, this was shot in greenland on 1986-08-12 using a model of camera that only exists in fiction

these next ones should be a no brainer, but they arent and too many ppl dont treat this as seriously as needed

2) never touch the trigger or leave your finger within the trigger guard until you are prepared to fire and potentially kill whatever is on the other end of your barrel.

3) never point the barrel at or cover the muzzle with anything you are not prepared to shoot and kill

4) always be aware of your line of fire and target's backstop. if at any point youre not 100% sure, dont shoot.

anytime you interact with a firearm:

1) treat all firearms as if they are loaded. semi automatic handguns may have a round in the chamber, so when unloading it always remove the magazine first then remember to pull the top slide fully back to eject any potential round in the chamber. forgetting to do this is how people shoot themselves and others with the "magic bullet" they didnt know was there

as people within liberatory social movements, we cant let ourselves fall into the gun worship of the right when we arm ourselves for defense. the right worships the gun itself as an religious object of power, which is why theyre so unsafe with them and constantly barrel sweep each other. we dont have the same luxury since we dont have the material backing of the dominant social/racial/political class/castes.
